Info for children

Hello! We are looking forward to you coming to stay with us!

Our house is close to the seaside, so it will be like a little holiday with your Mum and Dad. There are lots of fun things to do and see.

What will we do?

We will do fun things like go to the beach, go to the park, play with other children and do some messy painting!

Do you have some questions?

You might have some questions you would like to ask, such as:

What is Judith Lodge?

Judith lodge is a nice house where you can stay with your mum or dad and they will get to learn new things, it’s a bit like them going to school.  We help them to learn new things about keeping you safe, healthy, and happy.

What is it like at Judith Lodge?

It’s like being at home, but with staff members around to make sure everyone is feeling safe, listened to and help mum or dad become better at being a parent.

Why are we staying here?

Sometimes being a mum or dad is difficult and they might need to learn new things to make your life and their lives better.

What is a staff member?

A staff member is a person who has been carefully chosen to work at Judith Lodge. They are there to spend time with you and your family, to play with you, answer yours and your mum or dads’ questions, to give advice and to help them when they are having a sad day or find it hard to do something.  Staff members will always be happy to see you and always there if you wanted to talk to them or tell them something that makes you sad or unhappy.  Staff members join in playtimes, activities, going outside, going out shopping with you and might go to appointments with you and your parent like going to the doctors.

What are sessions or workshops?

These are lessons for mums and dads, where a staff member will talk about different things, look at pictures and fill in forms. We talk about lots of things and think about what mum or dad has learnt while staying at Judith Lodge. We will also do play sessions with you in the playroom, and some messy play inside and outside in the garden.

What can I do if I am worried or unhappy?

You can always talk to a staff member, and they will try and make you happy again.  You could tell Donna the manager and she will try and make things better for you.  You can also speak the John who visits the centre once a month, and he will tell the manager why you are not happy.  If you are still unhappy and don’t think Judith Lodge have sorted your problem, you can ask staff to use a phone and call Ofsted or The Children’s Rights Commissioner.

We will always listen to you!

Do you want to talk about how you feel?

We have therapists who like to listen and who you can talk to if you are worried or have ‘big feelings’ or are sad. Tell a staff member you would like to talk to Linda or Katie, and they will come and see you.

Where can I get help?
